Julia Louis-Dreyfus Shares Her Breast Cancer Diagnosis on Instagram
Today, Julia Louis-Dreyfus shared with the world that she has just been diagnosed with breast cancer.
"The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal healthy care a reality," wrote Louis-Dreyfus on her Instagram, account @officialjld.
It's been quite a year for the actress; a few months ago she broke the record for the most Emmys won by a performer for a single role. She has won an Emmy 6 times for her role on Veep (HBO.)
"Our love and support go out to Julia and her family at this time," HBO said in a statement. "We have every confidence she will get through this with her usual tenacity and undaunted spirit, and look forward to her return to health and to HBO for the final season of 'Veep.'"
In the past, Louis-Dreyfus has advocated for cancer research...she has teamed up with organizations such as Livestrong.
I am grateful when stars open up about their illnesses, as it creates awareness on how common being sick truly is. I will look forward to see what kind of advocacy and awareness result from her willingness to be open. Sending love to Julia, her friends, and family during this time.
